P1020676The village hall is licensed to accommodate 160 people excluding staff, attendants and performers. The main hall will accommodate between 60 and 100 if seated at tables, depending of course on how they are arranged.

There is a small kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge. Tables, chairs and crockery can be hired.

Hire charges

Anstey residents:         £8 per hour
Other hirers:                 £10 per hour

Access for setting up on the evening before bookings may be arranged for an extra payment.
Reductions may be available for block bookings. Please enquire.
All charges are based on the assumption that the hirer will clean up after the booking!

There are weekly sessions as follows:
Monday evening – Zumba class – Exercise to music (6.30 to 7.30pm)
Tuesday evening – Gentle Yoga (5.15 to 6.15pm)
Tuesday evening – Table Tennis (7.30pm)
Wednesday – Pilates (8.50 to 9.50am) and Table Tennis (10.30 to 11.30am)* – see note below
Wednesday – Carpet Bowls (7.30 – 9.30pm) [September to April]
Thursday – Yoga (10.45 to 11.45am)
New members are always welcome. The first session is free: thereafter, it’s just £2 per session (pay as you go) £3 per session from September 2017.

*Note – Just to let you know that our current Pilates teacher, Andree, is leaving us due to other commitments. Her last session will be on July 19th.
Our new teacher, Renay Jacobs, will be starting on August 2ndat the new time of 4.30 – 5.30. There will be no class on July 26th, and she will be on holiday on 23rd and 30th August.

ANSTEY ‘POP-UP’ FILM AND SOCIAL CLUB.

The next meeting of the Film Club will be on Friday 8th September 2017. Doors open at 7.30pm and the film will start at 8.00. All paid-up members should have received an emailed flyer with details of the film that we’re showing. If you haven’t I’ll forward it to you or you would like to join as a member at £12 per year which allows free entry to all films, please contact oxleydj@yahoo.co.uk
Non-members are welcome to join us on the night; either as a guest (£3 entrance) or to sign up for the year’s subscription.

MUSIC ON A SUMMER’S EVENING – Saturday 22nd July. 7.30pm
Following the success of last year’s event we will again be providing an evening of live entertainment featuring Tony Pledger, the Anstey troubadour and Sky West – ‘acoustic music for head, hands and feet.’. Entrance is £10 on the foot and include a light supper. as ever, there’ll be a licensed bar. 3 HOUR FIRST AID COURSE
On Saturday September 16th, from 10 am to 1pm, Anstey Village Hall will be hosting a three-hour family First Aid course, led by Danielle Bridge from ABC Life Support. The course will demonstrate the skills needed to deal with some of the most common injuries and incidents that may occur in everyday family life. You’ll learn how to distinguish between normal everyday complaints and life-threatening situations as well as learn the practical skills required to save a life.

Course content

  • How to plan for a First Aid emergency
  • Recovery position on an unconscious but breathing casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR) on an adult, baby or child who isn’t breathing including the use of a Community Access Defibrillator
  • Choking
  • Burns and Bleeds
  • Falls and Broken Bones
  • Illness recognition and when to contact the Emergency Services

Thanks to a Community Grant from East Herts District Council, we are able to offer the course at the subsidised rate of £6, and feel sure that this will be a very valuable opportunity for all of us.
